Flashback will revive memories of great local athletes and outstanding team successes.Placid skating series resumes today LAKE PLACID — The Citizens Bank Summer Skating Series resumes with Freaky Friday and the Saturday Night Ice Show, presented by North Country Community College, today and Saturday at the Olympic Center.
Skaters in the show include Olympian Emily Hughes and Jason Wong (2008 U.S. Collegiate National Champion). Skaters participating in the Miracles of Gold summer skating program will also perform their individual and group numbers. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the show is $9 for adults, $7 for juniors and seniors. Children six and under may enter for free.
The Freaky Friday show will start at 4:30 p.m. in the 1932 Rink Jack Shea Arena. Miracle of Gold students create their own unique routines for this free event.
Fun Run/Ride set for Saturday PLATTSBURGH — Fesette Realty will the Mayor's Fun Run & Ride on Saturday. Events for all age groups will be concluded in time to view the downtown parade. The starting site is the Base Oval with the 400M & 800M kids' run starting at 11:30 a.m., the 1-Mile open fun run/walk at noon and the 16-mile bike ride around Cumberland Head at 12:30 p.m. Helmets are mandatory for the bike ride, which is not intended as a race and is designed to be enjoyed by all levels of abilities. It is free to all participants and organized by the Northern Lights Track Club. Information and photos are available at www.NLrunners.com.
First ski jump competition today LAKE PLACID — The 2009 90-meter Summer Ski Jump today at the Olympic Jumping Complex begins at 1 p.m. with the first of two rounds. Athletes are judged on distance and form. Athletes will also earn points towards the Art Devlin, Sr. Memorial Cup, which is awarded to the jumper with the most combined points from three events: the Summer Ski Jump, the Flaming Leaves Ski Jump, and the New Year's Masters Ski Jump.
Local Olympian Taylor Hoffman, defending Summer Ski Jump champion A.J. Brown, last year's second-place finisher and top female jumper Tara Geraghty-Moats and previous Art Devlin Cup winner Anders Johnson are all scheduled to compete.
Saturday is the season's debut of Sprite Soaring Saturday, where the only thing that matters is the distance of the jump. The day begins at 1 p.m.
Admission is $14 for adults and $8 for juniors and seniors.
Kites in the Park July 11 PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is sponsoring Kites in the Park at Cumberland Head Park on Saturday, July 11 at 2 -3 p.m. Families within the Town are invited to this free event. The first 30 children to participate will receive a free kite.

Castleton boy's hoops camp almost full CASTLETON — There are fewer than 15 remaining spaces for the overnight boy's basketball camp at Castleton State College Monday, July 20-Friday, July 24 for 4-12 year-olds. There will also be a day option available.
