Election official new Malone village clerk
MALONE — Cheryl Douglas has resigned as deputy Democratic commissioner of the Franklin County Board of Elections to become village clerk in Malone.

The announcement was made Thursday by both Democratic Party Commissioner Kathy Fleury and Mayor Brent Stewart.

Douglas, who was selected from 16 applicants, will step down from the county job effective July 17 and start her new duties with the village July 20.

She was paid $27,363 as deputy commissioner and will receive a salary of $30,000 with the village.

Hazen Road to be closed temporarily
JAY — The Hazen Road in the Town of Jay will be temporarily closed from 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The affected area will be the one-mile portion of the road that has been unpaved for the past three weeks in preparation for paving.

NACS Board sets organizational meeting
ELLENBURG — The Northern Adirondack Central School Board will hold its reorganizational and regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the elementary school cafeteria.

The reorganizational meeting will begin with election of the board president and vice president, as well as appointments for the 2009-10 school year.

The regular meeting will follow, which will include policy updates. An executive session will be held to discuss the employment history of certain individuals and collective negotiations.

The meeting is open to the public.

Westport School Board meeting coming up
WESTPORT — The Westport Central School Board will hold its annual reorganizational and regular meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the library.

Appointments will be made for the coming year.

All board meetings are open to the public.

Beekmantown interviewing for principal
BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Middle School/High School Library.

A motion will be made to enter executive session to interview candidates for Beekmantown Elementary School principal.

The annual organizational meeting of the board will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the library. The board will elect a president and vice president and designate meeting dates for the 2009-10 school year. The regular meeting will continue with appointments and textbook adoption.
