Vt. officials suspect stolen tools may have come from area

PLATTSBURGH — Vermont police have recovered an array of stolen construction equipment and suspect some of the tools may belong to upstate New York residents.

The Morristown Police Department recently seized a number of expensive tools from Surprenant Sanitation and the home of Kyle and Lacy Surprenant in Derby, Vt., and are now trying to track down the original owners of the equipment.

Most of the items had serial numbers removed.

Among the seized property is a Wacker GS-85 generator, a Midwest Products portable air tank and a black plastic Craftsman tool box that had red drawers and contained numerous sockets, drill bits and several wrenches.

Also recovered was a blue Emglo air compressor, a red Milwaukee 14-inch abrasive cut-off chop saw, a Dorcy spot light, a Lincoln Electric 250 Ranger Welder, a Makita grinder, a Makita concrete drill, a Hilti concrete gun, a Ramset/Red Head concrete gun that had the name Gosselin written on it and a white, 12-foot, enclosed utility trailer.

Police said Mr. Surprenant, who is facing several charges, also possessed a stolen Bob Cat Skid-Steer and a roller compactor, both of which are now missing.

Anyone with information about the stolen property or the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Patrolman Jason Luneau at (802) 888-4211.
