Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to support initiatives that help others improve their lives through literacy and education. Since its inception in 1993, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $81 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, helping more than 4.7 million individuals take their first steps toward literacy or continued education.

Contribution received

PLATTSBURGH — TD Bank recently presented $629.60 to the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum to be used to support the general operating needs of the museum. This annual contribution is made possible through

the number of community members who sign up to participate in the Affinity Banking Program.

This program helps nonprofit organizations raise money by making an annual contribution to the organization based upon the average balance of all linked accounts. Eligible accounts include business and personal, checking, savings, money market, CD and retirement.

For more information or to sign up to support the museum through the Affinity Program, contact: Lisa LaFountain, director of fundraising and membership at membership@cvtmuseum.com or phone 566-7575 or 440-554-3914.

The Champlain Valley Transportation Museum was founded in 2000 by a group of car and history enthusiasts from the Plattsburgh area. What began as an automobile museum has grown to cover many forms of transportation. CVTM has

two large exhibit halls. There are more than 25 automobiles on display, a model train room, a bicycle exhibit and more. The foundation of CVTM is the Lozier Motor Co., which operated in Plattsburgh during the early 1900s.

Chamber event

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Chamber of Commerce will host the 15th Annual Great Adirondack Car Show, Craft Fair and Giant Garage Sale on Saturday, June 15, at the Crete Center to see cars, truck and motorcycles from every era competing in 30 different classes.
