PLATTSBURGH — Abbott Frenyea & Russell CPA’s PC have made the following promotions.
Jim Holmes, CPA, has become a shareholder in the firm. He is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting. He was the general manager of Hemingford Golf Club in Hemingford, Quebec, following graduation.
He joined Abbott, Frenyea & Russell in 2002 and became a licensed CPA in 2006. He is fluent in French and specializes in assisting Canadian companies doing business in the United States and U.S. citizens living abroad.
Holmes is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New York State Society of CPAs. He is very active in the community and has served on a number of boards of not-for-profit organizations and is currently treasurer of Mountain Lake PBS.
Ted Doherty, CPA, has been promoted to senior accountant. He graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Business. Following graduation, he joined Abbott, Frenyea & Russell and became a licensed CPA in 2013. He provides auditing and tax services to the firm’s clients.

LAKE PLACID — To celebrate the Paralympic Games being held this March in Sochi, Russia, the Lake Placid Olympic Museum is hosting an exhibit on the Paralympics. Spirit in Motion: A Paralympic Photo Exhibition will call the museum its home from now until April 1.
The exhibit will have 16 images on display, all taken by Lieven Coudenys, an official photographer of the International Paralympic Committee, during the Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010. Coudenys depicts the experiences of the Paralympic Games and raises questions of what it means to be an athlete today. There will also be Paralympic equipment on display to accompany the pictures.
