Renegades to be featured

PLATTSBURGH -- It's the Versatile Trailer Sales Renegades' turn to try their hand at extra-distance competition Saturday, July 12 at Airborne Speedway as the eight-cylinder, stock suspension cars are slated for the 40-lap Higher Peaks Dental Mayor's Cup Special.

When Keith O'Neil of Mooers drove to his first career-win last Saturday, the Renegades went their customary 25 laps. Set-ups and tire wear issues may be magnified in the Mayor's Cup event. O'Neil got to the front on lap 3, went unchallenged on a mid-race restart and led runner-up Joe Daniels to the line by five car lengths.

Lonnie Rivers of Morrisonville regained the top spot in the Renegade championship point standings with a third-place finish. Rivers leads Lance Rabtoy of Fairfax, Vt., 307-304.

If last weekend's J&S Steel Sportsman 100 was any indication, the Renegades will respond to the extra-distance race with a race to the wire in the Mayor's Cup Special. Shawn Duquette won Saturday's Sportsman 100 with Richie Turner and Bucko Branham perched on his back bumper.

The Higher Peaks Dental race card will also include the Ernie's Tools Modifieds, J&S Steel Sportsman, Keeseville NAPA Auto Parts Warriors and Monster Energy Bombers.

Gates open Saturday at 4 pm. Qualifying heats begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $10/adults, $3/kids 6-12, $20/Family (two adults, two kids). Children age five and under admitted free of charge.

Trim places 10th in

Adirondack feature

BREMEN -- Morrisonville's Bryant Trim came in 10th Saturday in the 76-lap feature at Adirondack Speedway after turning in the fastest time in the TJ Toyota of Potsdam time trials.

Lee Gill won the main event for Late Models with John Papin, Jerry Dineen, Erik Cupernall and Zach Arthur rounding out the top five.

Trim, with a time of 16.017 seconds, narrowly edged Gill, who was timed in 16.018, in the time trials.

J.R. Mooney won the True Stocks 20-lap feature, Tim Dunn took the checkers in the 15-lap Sport Compacts feature, and Gregg Roes raced home first in the 20-lap main event for Light Trucks.
