State Police shoot, apparently kill, suspect in North Hudson

NORTH HUDSON — A suspect has apparently died after he was shot by State Police in a pursuit that ended on the Adirondack Northway Tuesday night.

State Police had not released the suspect’s name or the circumstances of the shooting by this morning.

Schroon Lake Ambulance Squad was called to North Hudson to transport the man who was shot.

The incident started in Schroon Lake when State Police attempted to pull the suspect’s vehicle over for a traffic violation on Route 9. Police said the motorist fled the scene and they pursued him south to Pottersville, where he got on the Northway and headed north.

The fleeing driver was finally pulled over near Exit 29 of Interstate 87, the North Hudson exit, just before 8 p.m., police said, and he was shot when he allegedly assaulted a female state trooper who was involved in the traffic stop.

Police said more information would be released later today.
