Police Log: Feb. 1, 2014


ST. REGIS FALLS — The St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department was fighting a residential structure fire on State Route 458 late Friday, according to Franklin County Dispatch. 

The fire was reported at 6:19 p.m. Mutual aid is being provided by departments from Dickinson, Bangor, Brushton, Malone, Moriah, Paul Smiths-Gabriels. 

St. Regis Falls is a hamlet in the Town of Santa Clara. Dispatch couldn’t immediately provide a house number for the location. No additional information was available Friday night.


SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake Village Police arrested Michael J. Gonyea during a fight on Bloomingdale Avenue.

Gonyea, 42, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance early Thursday morning, police said. The substance, which police did not name, had been repackaged allegedly with intent to sell, according to police reports.

Gonyea was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; disorderly conduct, a violation; seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance in non-original container, a violation.

He was processed in Village Court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
