Lamberton leads NCCS icemen



LAKE PLACID -- Nate Lamberton continued his scoring spree while nine teammates picked up at least a point Monday night in Northeastern Clinton's 10-1 victory over Lake Placid in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference hockey.

Lamberton scored four times and assisted on another goal as the Cougars improved to 11-5-4, 6-1-2 in conference play. They will wrap up the regular season Saturday in a 2:30 face-off with Saranac at the Rouses Point Civic Center.

Bobby Marks and Brandon LaMere each chipped in with a goal and three assists while Ben LeDuc and Ryan Gaudreau had one goal and one assist apiece. James Guay and Nick Martin also scored for Northeastern Clinton.

Matt Bussey accounted for the Lake Placid goal, tying the game at one at 5:42 of the first period. Less than a minute later, Lamberton picked up his second goal to put NCCS ahead to stay.

Bradley Paul and Taylor Kelsey combined for eight saves for the Cougars. Brady Hayes and A.J. Murphy had 24 saves for Lake Placid (4-14-1, 0-8).

Lake Placid will host Beekmantown tonight and then visit Plattsburgh High on Saturday to finish the regular season.
