Bucket Garden kids event planned

POINT AU ROCHE — Friends of Point au Roche State Park, in collaboration with Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, will offer a Bucket Garden activity for children from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8.

The event will be held at the park’s Nature Center, Camp Red Cloud Road. Children will plant a tomato, lettuce, onion and marigold.

Annual Master Gardener Perennial Sale planned

PLATTSBURGH — The annual Master Gardener Perennial Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, June 14, beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until the plants are gone.

The Clinton County sale will be held at the County Cooperative Extension office at 6064 State Route 22. Essex County will hold their sale at the Carpet Store in Lake Placid.

The plants being sold are divisions from the Master Gardeners’ own gardens or grown in their greenhouses. The perennials cost $5 each or five for $20.

Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and to help choose the plants that will fit into your garden.


Farmers markets set to open in June

SARANAC LAKE — June marks the opening days of the producers only farmers markets in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.

The Saranac Lake Village Farmers Market, located in Riverside Park, will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from June 7 through Oct. 11.

The Lake Placid Farmers Market, located at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, will be open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Wednesday from June 25 through Oct. 8, with CSA pickups scheduled for June 4, 11 and 18 and Oct. 14 and 22.
