VIC hosting quilt workshop in April
PAUL SMITHS — The Paul Smith’s College VIC, 8023 Route 30, is hosting a workshop from April 5 to 7 to teach participants how to create a floral quilt by watercolor techniques.
Karen LiVecchi will teach participants a simple method of blending and contrast to put a design together using just three coordinating fabrics. Participants will learn to sew perfect blocks quickly and accurately using a fusible foundation. Tips on adding borders with accuracy will also be covered.
Workshop hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 5; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6; and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 7. The cost is $145, and preregistration is required by Tuesday, April 2.
Participants will create two quilt tops (finished size is about 27-inches by 27-inches), a floral wreath and their own creation. Students are encouraged to bring their own fabric, but quilt-top kids are also available for $15. The wreath pattern and fusible foundation are included in the class. Students will need batting (31-inches by 31-inches) and backing (1 yard) to finish each quilt. Materials will be provided.
