---- — Regional blood drives planned in July

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Regional Blood Donor program, partnering with many community-minded business and organizations, is conducting several blood drives in July. Blood and blood products collected at these drives stay in the North Country to help residents in Clinton, Franklin, Essex and St. Lawrence counties. Here is the upcoming schedule:

▶ Monday July 8, Garvey Hyundai 1 to 5 p.m.; and Mountain Lake Academy, Noon to 4 p.m.

▶ Tuesday July 9, Altona Fire Department Auxiliary, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.; and Morrisonville Ambulance Service, 4 to 7 p.m.

▶ Wednesday July 10, Adirondack Medical Center, Noon to 5 p.m. 

▶ Thursday July 11, American Management Association, Saranac Lake, Noon to 3 p.m.; and Black Brook Town Hall, 3 to 7 p.m.

▶ Friday July 12, Curtis Lumber Plattsburgh, 8 to 11 a.m.

▶ Monday July 15, Keeseville Fire Department, 4 to 7 p.m.; and Twin State Voice Data and Video, 8 to 11 a.m.

▶ Tuesday July 16, NYS DEC in Ray Brook, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Wadhams Community Church, 3 to 7 p.m.

▶ Wednesday July 17, Massena Memorial Hospital, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

▶ Thursday July 18, Wilmington Fire Department, 3 to 7 p.m.

▶ Tuesday July 23, Essex County Public Safety Building, 3 to 7 p.m.; and Bangor Fire Department, 4 to 7 p.m.

▶ Monday July 29, Chazy Fire Department 4 to 7 p.m.

▶ Tuesday July 30, Country Malt, Lawrence Paquette Drive, Champlain, 9 a.m. to Noon; and Malone Call Firemen, 4 to 7 p.m.

▶ Wednesday July 31, Plattsburgh Farmers Market, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The North Country Blood Donor Center, a program of CVPH Medical Center, is located in the CVPH Health Plaza. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Mobile Dental Clinic to hold appointments

SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Health Mobile Dental Clinic is on the road this summer.

The “clinic on wheels” aims to serve residents of outlying communities, where limited resources and travel are obstacles for receiving timely dental care. The vehicle is fully registered, licensed and insured in New York state and is certified to provide dental care by the State Department of Health. Most insurances are accepted, including Medicaid. Self-pay patients are also welcome. Care will be provided on a shared basis by the hospital’s dentists through October.

Here are the clinics: AuSable Forks, Black Brook town parking lot, 18 North Main St., 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8, 9, 29 and 30, and Aug. 9, 15, 16, 26 and 29; Long Lake, Geiger Arena, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22 and Aug. 12; Tupper Lake Municipal Park, 17 Demars Blvd., 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 25 and 26, and Aug. 5, 6, 19, 20 and 30; and Vermontville, 7 Cold Brook Road (parking behind Town Hall), 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11 and Aug. 1 and 23.

Qigong offered in at Adirondack History Center

ELIZABETHTOWN — Experience Vitality Enhancement Qigong with Courtney Anderson and Brian Trzaskos in the Colonial Garden at the Adirondack History Center Museum on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. from July 9 to Aug. 13.

Qigong is the Chinese wellness program of self-care. It encompasses gentle movement, self-applied massage, breathing techniques and meditation.

No experience is necessary, and no strenuous or vigorous movements are required.

To learn more, attend a free demonstration at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, at the History Center Museum. People can sign up for classes afterward.

The cost is $12 per class or $75 for the full six weeks.
