LAKE PLACID — Visiting Nurse Service of Northeastern New York recently opened new offices at 5839 Cascade Road, Lake Placid.
The certified home-health-care agency, which serves families in more than 100 communities and seven counties in northeastern New York, is now providing its services in Essex and Franklin counties.
Visiting Nurse Service has been providing home health care in upstate New York since 1919.
Originally established in Schenectady and Saratoga counties, the non-profit agency now serves Essex, Franklin, Warren, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany and Schoharie counties.
“We are excited about this venture into the North Country,” President and CEO Joseph Twardy said in a news release. “We have heard from the community that there is an increasing need in the entire region for home health care, and we are ready to help fill that need.
“We will achieve this by partnering with the great physicians, hospitals, other health-care providers and, most importantly, families within the region.”
Visiting Nurse Service of Northeastern New York provides a wide range of in-home services to help manage care in the comfort of a patient’s home, the release said, “whether returning from the hospital, striving to live independently as long as possible or seeking a specific medical or social service to help a patient feel or function better.”
In-home services are managed by a Visiting Nurse Service nurse or therapist while working directly with the primary physician.
The agency provides in-home care to men, women and children of all ages, in all stages of life.
Professional services include: skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, registered dietician, social work, respiratory therapy, home health aide and tele-health monitoring in the home.
The agency accepts Medicare and Medicaid as well as numerous other insurance providers.
The Lake Placid office can be reached at 533-3628 (office) or 837-5026 (fax).
