Local physician assistants receive national recognition

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Two North Country physician assistants are among 108 certified physician assistants nationally to recently earn a specialty credential called a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

N. Alexandra Caffrey of Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga and Justin Kilgore of Adirondack Health in Saranac Lake were both awarded a CAQ in emergency medicine.

Adirondack Health provides Smooth Stride Runners’ Clinic

SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Health is offering the Smooth Stride Runners’ Clinics around the North Country.

The Runners’ Clinics are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

• Thursday, Feb. 20; Adirondack Health Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine facility, Lake Placid, 29 Church St.

• Thursday, Feb. 27; Adirondack Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation, Plattsburgh, 39 Court St.

• March 20, April 3 and May 15; Adirondack Health Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine facility, Lake Placid.

Start times are 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., and are limited to four participants per time slot. Cost is $35 per person.

Participants will receive: full running assessment by trained staff; biomechanical screening and footwear recommendations for issues that may lead to injury and lost training time; computerized running gait analysis using DartFish video software; functional movement assessment with corrective exercises; nutritional screening; running physiology with training guidelines.

Glens Falls Hospital to participate in Health Institute

GLENS FALLS — Glens Falls Hospital and Adirondack Health Institute (AHI) leaders recently signed a memorandum of understanding that welcomes Glens Falls Hospital as an AHI member.

AHI is a regional collaboration between Adirondack Health (Saranac Lake), Community Providers, Inc. (CVPH) and Hudson Headwaters Health Network (HHHN).

The service area includes Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties.
