WIC clinics
set for July

ELIZABETHTOWN — Here's a list of WIC clinics scheduled for July in Essex County: in the AuSable Forks Ambulance Building from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Wednesday; the WIC office in Elizabethtown from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Thursday, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 16; Ticonderoga Methodist Church from 2 to 6 p.m. July 6 and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13, 20 and 27; Lake Placid Youth Center from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 7 and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 28; Schroon Lake Health Center from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8; Port Henry Knights of Columbus from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 9; Moriah Firehouse from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14; Crown Point Firehouse from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 15; Wilmington Town Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 22; and Keeseville Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 23.

WIC provides healthy foods including milk, cheese and eggs to pregnant women and mothers who are breast-feeding and their babies. It also pays for infant formula, and vegetables and fruits for children older than age 2.

Income guidelines have increased, a press release said. A family of four with a monthly gross income of less than $3,400 is eligible. For each additional family member, add $577.

Chronic pain group to meet Thursday
PLATTSBURGH — The Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Support Group meets next at 7 p.m. Thursday at Pine Harbour Assisted Living Facility, 15 New Hampshire Drive, Plattsburgh.

The sessions, held the first Thursday of every month, are open to anyone suffering from chronic pain and fatigue. Family and friends are also welcome.

Perry to introduce WRAP in E'town
ELIZABETHTOWN — At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, Barbara Copeland Perry will present an interactive overview presentation of the WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) program at Adirondack Community Action Programs, 7572 Court St., Elizabethtown.

WRAP is an evidence-based practice developed in 1997 by Mary Ellen Copeland, Ph.D. All over the world, WRAP groups are helping people experiencing difficulties with troubling emotional and/or behavioral symptoms as well as supporting their loved ones and providers, a press release said. Centered on recovering and maintaining wellness, WRAP focuses on personal responsibility, reaching out for support, building a wellness toolbox and developing a WRAP action plan.

Perry, of Peru, is a mental health recovery educator.

Her presentation is free, and refreshments will be served.

Red Cross seeks blood donors
The American Red Cross has scheduled blood drives open to the public in Essex and Franklin counties in July. They are at: Akwesasne Hogansburg Volunteer Fire Department, 818 County Route 37, Hogansburg, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15; Adirondack Medical Center's Mercy Nursing Home, 114 Wawbeek Ave., Tupper Lake from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15; Malone Moose Lodge, 4077 State Route 11, Malone, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16; and High Peaks Resort, 2384 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, July 31.

Franklin County clinics scheduled
MALONE — Franklin County Public Health Services will hold the immunization clinics from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, and Wednesday, July 22, at 125 Catherine St., Franklin County Annex, Malone.

A parent with current immunization records must accompany all children, who are eligible for vaccines if health insurance won't cover the cost otherwise. Health Services is unable to bill insurances for adult vaccines, which include Hepatitis A and B, TD, MMR, Menactra and HPV for ages 19 to 26; tDap through age 64; and the shingles vaccine for those older than 60.
