Safety-seat clinic Wednesday in Ray Brook

RAY BROOK — A child safety-seat clinic will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the New York State Police Troop “B” Headquarters here.

Adults who are responsible for providing transportation for children of all ages are encouraged to attend. Technicians will be on hand to inspect seats, assist with installations, provide information and answer questions regarding child-seat safety.

Wellness Center offering Kids’ Night Out Friday

PLATTSBURGH — The Wellness Center at PARC is hosting Kids’ Night Out at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at its 295 New York Ave. location.

The community event allows children to have a night out while giving parents the peace of mind knowing that their children will be supervised and active. Children will have the opportunity to participate in structured activities such as swimming, dancing, basketball, soccer and volleyball.

The cost is $5 per child.

Story time resumes Thursday in Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake Free Library’s preschool story-time program will resume at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Children’s Room, 109 Main St.

Support group for nursing moms meets Monday

PLATTSBURGH — La Leche League, a breast-feeding information and support group, meets at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Family Connections on U.S. Oval.

The group, which is for all women, meets the first Monday of every month. Babies are also welcome.

An additional support group will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Imaginarium Children’s Museum, 4709 Route 9, Plattsburgh. This group will meet the third Tuesday of every month.

Learn about foster care at Tuesday orientation

PLATTSBURGH — An orientation and informational meeting for prospective foster/adoptive and respite parents will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Clinton County Department of Social Services, 13 Durkee St.

In addition, the Clinton County Department of Social Services Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP) training for prospective foster/adoptive and respite parents will start Tuesday, Jan. 15.

All are welcome to attend, and there is no commitment.

Child-safety seat check coming up Jan. 19.

PLATTSBURGH — A Child Passenger Safety Event is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Bill McBride Chevrolet and Subaru Inc., 5701 U.S. Ave.

Clinton County Traffic Safety, Morrisonville EMS and Safe Kids Adirondack will be checking to see that child-safety seats are properly installed.
