PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh High School senior has organized a car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today to benefit the DAV Chapter 179.

Sarah Ashabranner’s National Honor Society service project will help local veterans. The fundraiser is at Stewart’s Shops, 262 Rugar St., Plattsburgh.

Celebration to honor US Armed Forces

SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Carousel and the Adirondack Wellness Network will honor the United States Armed Forces and their families with a celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the carousel, 2 Depot St.

The day will include musical entertainment by Steve Borst, educational programming, demonstrations and free carousel rides for service families with their military ID. The Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country will also offer free carousel rides for the community.

Piccadilly Circus performing in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH — The Piccadilly Circus will perform at the Crete Memorial Civic Center, 41 City Hall Place, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.

Acts include the “Cossak Warriors” on horseback, “Motorcycle Nitro Cowboys” in the “Globe of Death”; camels and zebras performing with ponies, clowns, comedy acts and more.

Free children’s tickets have been distributed at area elementary schools, preschools, day-care centers and churches. Tickets for adults are buy-one get-one free and are available online at www.thefuncircus.com for a limited time. Tickets can also be purchased on show day.

Hospice Memorial Butterfly Release coming up

PLATTSBURGH — Hospice of the North Country will hold its annual Memorial Butterfly Release at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Melissa L. Penfield Park on Boynton Avenue.

About 120 monarch butterflies will be released simultaneously. The event is open to anyone wishing to memorialize or honor a loved one.

Pre-purchasing butterflies is encouraged and should be done by Friday, May 24, however, butterflies may be purchased at the event based on availability. The cost is $20 per butterfly. Butterflies can be purchased by calling the Hospice of the North Country Plattsburgh Office at 561-8465.
