June volunteers sought for Almanzo Wilder Homestead
BURKE — The Almanzo Wilder Homestead is seeking additional persons to join volunteers leading school tours during the month of June.
Volunteers will be trained and may shadow and/or assist other tours before leading a group of 10 to 15 students with chaperones on tours including the schoolhouse, museum, barn complex, and house.
Tours are scheduled to start between 9 and 10 a.m., depending on the school visiting, and last approximately two hours. One or two guides may at times assist at the counter after tours until 1 p.m. Individuals wishing to lead tours for the public may be trained.
Individuals interested in the Wilder Homestead but not interested in the speaking positions are also sought to help throughout the summer and early fall or on an occasional basis for lawn mowing, gardening and general maintenance.
All individuals volunteering must provide two personal references due to the number of children visiting the farm.
For an application, call 483-1207, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the farm at 177 Stacy Road, Burke, between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday, May 13.
