Child passenger safety seat check set for June 21

PLATTSBURGH — Supported by Clinton County Traffic Safety, Morrisonville EMS, and Safe Kids Adirondack, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office has announced a child passenger safety seat check for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the AAA Northway Office, 20 Booth Drive, Plattsburgh.

Adirondack Carousel to host Pirate and Princess Party

SARANAC LAKE — A Pirate and Princess Party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Adirondack Carousel, 2 Depot St., Saranac Lake.

The day will include pirate- and princess-themed activities and crafts, snacks and beverages and carousel rides. Costumes are highly encouraged.

Registration is required and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Cost is $20 for one child and one adult; each additional person, $8.

Habitat for Humanity plans garage sale fundraiser

PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Valley Habitat for Humanity will hold a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 28, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at 616 Route 3, Plattsburgh, across from Pray’s Market.

Drop off useable household items for the sale from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Watch for the Habitat for Humanity sign at those times.

According to a press release, the following items can’t be accepted: clothing, televisions, computers, cribs, toilets, tubs, tires, mattresses or large appliances.

All items must be in good working order.

The organization plans to start construction on a house to be located on Old Station Road in Chazy this summer and by fall start the family-selection process. 

The dedication of a newly completed rehab of a home for a single mother of three children in the Town of Plattsburgh will take place soon, according to Habitat for Humanity representative Harriet Burrell.
