---- — Essex library hosting puppet show Saturday, April 13
ESSEX — Belden Noble Library at 2759 Essex Road will host a puppet show entitled “The Rainbow Pony” at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13.
The show, a fairy tale from the Andes, is presented by the Lakeside School of Black Kettle Farm. Attendees will be able to meet the teachers and the “puppets” and share a snack afterward.
The performance is free and open to all ages. Donations are accepted. For questions, call 963-8079.
Tumbling classes offeredat Lake Placid arts center
LAKE PLACID — Registrations are being accepted for tumbling classes in the Annex studio at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
The classes are on Thursdays from April 11 to May 30. During the weekly sessions, youngsters 2 to 12 years old will be introduced to tumbling and basic gymnastic skills. The goal of the program is to develop strength, flexibility and coordination while building self-confidence. Instructors are Donna Walsh, Mary Heaverly and Debbie Neill.
Classes include: Tots A, ages 2 to 3 ½ (must be accompanied by an adult), from 1 to 1:45 p.m., with a course fee of $70; Tots B, ages 2 to 3 ½, from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., for $70. Tots B will be filled first; Tots A will run only if Tots B is full.
Other classes include: Kinder Gym for ages 3 ½ to 5 from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., with a course fee of $80; Wiggle and Roll for ages 5 to 8 from 4 to 5 p.m., for $80; and Flips for ages 8 to 12 from 5 to 6 p.m., for $80.

Posters sought for annual Battle of Plattsburgh contest
PLATTSBURGH — The Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Committee is encouraging all fourth-grade students, including those who are homeschooled, to submit one poster to their art, history or homeroom teacher for the 16th-annual Poster Contest.
The poster must be in color and no larger than 12 inches by 18 inches. Judges will look for creativity and focus on key incidents of the land and/or naval battle.
The winning poster will appear on all admission buttons for the September 2013 Commemoration Weekend. The first-prize winner will receive $100; second place, $75; and third place, $50.
Submissions should be returned to the North Country Teacher Resource Center by Tuesday, April 30. Call 561-4296 for more information.
PLATTSBURGH — An orientation and informational meeting for prospective foster/adoptive and respite parents will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Clinton County Department of Social Services, 13 Durkee St.
In addition, the Clinton County Department of Social Services Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP) training for prospective foster/adoptive and respite parents will start Tuesday, April 23.
