Peru Elementary School. Summer registration for students in grades kindergarten through six, living in the Peru Central School District who will be attending Peru Elementary School for the first time in September will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. If a parent has not already called the school for a screening appointment, please do so as soon as possible. Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before December 1 to be eligible for fall 2013 kindergarten. Contact Peru  Elementary at 643-6100 for kindergarten through grade 2 or 643- 6200 for grade 3 through grade 6 to schedule a time to bring children. A copy of the birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residence is required for registration.

Saranac Co-operative Nursery School. Openings for fall enrollment, program academically based and runs on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Located at the former Dannemora Elementary Building. Children must be 3 years old and potty trained. Call 492-2448 for registration and information.

Champlain Children’s Learning Center. Openings for infants 6 weeks to 18 months. Call 297-2019, Ext. 0, for information.

New Life Christian Academy. Accepting applications for the 2013-14 academic year. NLCA offers a Christian education taught in an interdenominational and traditional classroom setting using ABeka curriculum for K through 6 and AOP curriculum for 7 through 12. AuSable Forks Elementary School. Registration and screening appointments for children entering kindergarten at AuSable Forks Elementary School are available. For appointment, call 647-5503 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. To be eligible for kindergarten, a pupil must be 5 on or before Dec. 1, 2013, and a district resident. Parents are requested to bring immunization records, birth certificates, and Social Security numbers. If you haven’t been contacted, call the school as soon as possible.

Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm, Essex. Openings for weekly playgroup, nursery and mixed-age kindergarten, birth to age 6. Daily outside time, farm activities, healthy whole-food snacks, singing and movement games, stories, puppet shows, artistic activities, festivals, community events. 963-7385.
