Parenting class
to start Nov. 9

MALONE — Danny Klebes will teach Common Sense Parenting for Infant and Toddlers in six Monday sessions from 6 to 8 p.m. starting Nov. 9 at Holy Family School in Malone.

"Come join us and learn skills that will make the job easier," said a press release from the Mental Health Association of Franklin County.

Cookie Critters baking workshop set
BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE — The final fall session of the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts is for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Ski swap
and fair planned

CHAMPLAIN — The North Country Youth Ski & Snowboard Club will host a Ski Fair and Equipment Swap Saturday, Nov. 14, at Northeastern Clinton Central High School, Route 276, Champlain.

Swap drop-off is from noon to 1 p.m., and the fair is from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Available will be passes, helmets, backpacks, Burton snowboards and more, a press release said. Raffle tickets being sold before and during the event will offer the chance to win a Jeremy Jones ICS Board with Custom EST Bindings. The winner needn't be present at the fair to win.

Tuning/waxing services will be available.

Learn about
helping families

PLATTSBURGH — Behavioral Health Services North Inc. and the Clinton County Department of Social Services will celebrate families with activities and information from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, outside Target in Champlain Centre mall.

That day is National Adoption Day, when, a press release said, "thousands of foster children across the nation will be adopted into permanent, loving families."

In Plattsburgh, the two agencies will hand out information about adoption, foster care, day and overnight respite, area support services and trainings. For the children visiting the booth, there will be face painting and coloring sheets; for adults, there will be gift basket give-aways.

Seminar to address grief during
the holidays

PLATTSBURGH — A free seminar for those facing the holidays following the death of a loved one will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at First Assembly of God, 164 Prospect Ave., Plattsburgh.

"'GriefShare: Surviving the Holiday' features practical suggestions and reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one's death," a press release said. "No matter how long it's been since your loved one died, grief can make the holidays a painful time."

Topics will include: "Why the Holidays are Tough," "What to Expect," "How to Prepare," "How to Manage Relationships and Holiday Socials" and "Using the Holidays to Help You Heal."

Participants will receive a free book with more than 30 daily readings with additional insights on holiday survival. Child care will be provided for children through grade 5.

Gingerbread workshop Nov. 21
CANTON — The annual gingerbread workshop taught by Sue Wilder at Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY) is set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 21, gingerbread workshop at the United Methodist Church, 41 Court Street, Canton.
