Interfaith Council plans service

PLATTSBURGH — The Interfaith Council will hold its annual Thanksgiving Service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Temple Beth Israel, 1 Bowman St., Plattsburgh.

United Church of Christ to host Advent Noontime Meditations

ELIZABETHTOWN — The United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown will present Advent Noontime Meditations at 12:15 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20.

Dec. 6 will feature Mary Lu Kirsty, organist; Dec. 13 will have Susan Huges, soprano, and Kirsty, pianist; and Dec. 20 will showcase Russell Ames, pianist, and Kirsty, organist.

Special Christmas Eve Service in Lewis

LEWIS — A special Christmas Eve Service with combined churches Lewis First Congregational and Elizabethtown United Church of Christ will be held in the Lewis Church at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, with pastor Fred Shaw presiding.

Special music will be offered prior to the service, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Peru Community Church to hold holiday services

PERU — Peru Community Church will hold several services throughout December.

On Dec. 1, the first Sunday in Advent, communion will be offered at both services; Sunday, Dec. 8, the second Sunday of Advent will be observed; Dec. 15, the third Sunday in Advent, a Sunday School Christmas Play will be performed during the 10:30 a.m. service, to be held in the Fellowship Center.

On Dec. 22, Advent’s fourth Sunday, there will be one service at 10 a.m. with the choir cantata. On Tuesday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve Services will be held at 4 p.m. with a special children’s service, 6 p.m. a Service of Nine Lessons and carols and at  8 p.m. a traditional worship and communion service.

On Wednesday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day, there will be one service at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Center Chapel, and the first Sunday after Christmas, Dec. 29, one service will be held at 10 a.m.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church to celebrate Advent

MALONE  — St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is inviting the public to join the congregation in celebrating the Advent.

Services begin at 9 a.m. each Sunday with Father Tom Papazoglakis, and a celebration of Advent lessons and carols will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the church at 34 Elm St.

The Christmas Eve service begins at 6:30 p.m. with Christmas carols and is followed at 7 with a celebration of Holy Communion.

The public is encouraged to attend.
