Annual holiday bazaar at Temple Beth Israel Sunday
PLATTSBURGH — Temple Beth Israel, at 1 Bowman St., is holding its annual holiday bazaar from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.
Items for sale include books for all ages, as well as work by a variety of artists. There will be jewelry, ceramics, small quilts, photography, cards, handmade mittens and slippers and more. The Temple Judica Shop will also feature many new and different items, including dreidels, menorahs and gelt.
Fair-trade saleto benefitmission projects
SARANAC LAKE — First Presbyterian Church will become an international bazaar of exotic sights and sounds at its ninth-annual “Give the Spirit” fair-trade sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
The marketplace will feature jewelry, handwoven bags and scarves, ornaments, toys and home accessories. The sale will also feature fairly traded coffees, teas and chocolates from Equal Exchange and a Heifer Project living-gift market. Local artists will provide music to shop by. All proceeds from the sale benefit local and world mission.
“For the ninth year in a row, we’ll transform our Great Hall into a world market, selling fair trade handicrafts from Colores del Pueblo, Mira Ethnicity and SERRV, International,” mission chairperson Debbie Kreider said. “These are nonprofit, fair-trade-certified organizations that work directly with artisans from around the world to find markets for their products in North America.”

Church Women United group meets today
TICONDEROGA — Church Women United’s fall meeting is at 10 a.m. today at the Cornerstone Alliance Church.
Coffee and refreshments will be served before the brief business meeting presided over by Louise Davidson, president. An hour of song, prayer and discussion will follow, centered on the theme “Breaking Down the Barriers of Injustice.”
