St. James to ordain the Rev. Ana Georgescu
AUSABLE FORKS — The Diocese of Albany, Bishop William Love and St. James Episcopal Church in AuSable Forks have announced the upcoming ordination of the Rev. Ana Georgescu, deacon, to the priesthood at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at St. James Episcopal Church, Route 9N.

Plattsburgh United Methodist Church to hold Contemplative Advent Service
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh United Methodist Church will host a Contemplative Advent Service at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, in the candle-lit sanctuary.
Hear the holy scriptures tell the story of God’s love for all creation, according to a press release.
The service takes a generous half-hour.
St. Augustine’s Parish Center schedules Fall Into Winter Craft Fair for Saturday
PERU — St. Augustine’s Parish Center at 3030 Main St., Peru, will host the Fall Into Winter Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Included in the event will be more than 30 vendors, a scratch-off lottery ticket raffle, hot lunch for sale, thrift shop, bake sale.
Also, Santa will be at the parish center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the Sweet Adelines will perform from 1 to 2 p.m., and hearing screenings will be conducted by SUNY Plattsburgh speech and hearing program graduate students.
First United Methodist Church to host St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble
SARANAC LAKE — The St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble will perform Western and Eastern sacred music and Russian folk songs at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the First United Methodist Church of Saranac Lake at 63 Church St.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 at are available at Ampersound, 52 Main St., Saranac Lake, and at the door. Call 891-2626 for reservations or further information.
Proceeds will benefit the roof restoration project.
The ensemble consists of four professional singers, three of them graduating from the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music and one from the Minsk Conservatory. All four have extensive education, training and experience and have performed throughout Russia in various choirs and theater, a press release states.
Champlain Valley Choraleto perform at area churches
SCHROON LAKE — The Champlain Valley Chorale will present its annual Christmas concert, “Very Best Time of Year,” at 7:30 tonight at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Schroon Lake.
The group will also perform at 3 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, Wicker Street, Ticonderoga. Following the Ticonderoga concert, the Carillon Garden Club will provide a reception for all attendees in the church’s Fellowship Hall featuring its annual “Holiday Magic” array. Refreshments will be served.
Director for the concerts will be Jeris French; accompanist will be Vaughn Watson.
The public is invited to attend the free events.
Chorale presents holiday program
ELIZABETHTOWN — The Pleasant Valley Chorale will present its holiday program “Songs of the Shepherds” in two concerts: at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Essex Community Church and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown.
The program will feature a wide variety of holiday favorites.
The chorale, sponsored by the Elizabethtown Social Center, is a community ensemble of 40 members, directed by Susan Hughes and accompanied by Mary Lu Kirsty.
Admission to the concerts is free, with a good-will donation accepted at the door.

Keeseville-Peru Ecumenical Choir schedules concerts Dec. 14, 15
KEESEVILLE — The Keeseville-Peru Ecumenical Choir will be performing two concerts, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. John the Baptist Church in Keeseville and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru.
The choir is directed by Jeanette Woodruff and accompanied by Carol Bachand. The 65-member choir will be performing a variety of sacred and secular Christmas music.
Admission is free.
