Bishop to preside at Massin Ellenburg Center

ELLENBURG — Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer at 7270 Star Road, Ellenburg Center, will host a Retreat and Celebration Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.

Bishop Terry LaValley will preside at Mass, and the Rev. Jack Downs will present a talk treating Mary as an example of discipleship within the reach of all. Passages will be shared from the Gospel of Luke and John and early passages of Acts of the Apostles. Adoration, and Mass will follow the talk.

Lunch will be provided. Donations will be accepted to help with the birthday celebration of the Bethlehem House.

St. Ann’s offering bus trip to shrines

MOOERS FORKS — St. Ann’s Society is offering its annual bus trip to the National Shrine of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha in Fonda, Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville and the Golden Corral in Saratoga Springs for a buffet on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

The bus will leave the St. Ann’s Church parking lot at 7:30 a.m.

The cost is $65.50 per person and covers the bus, shrines, all tipping, dinner and cold water on the bus. Attendees are asked to reserve a seat by calling Gloria at 236-5509 or Betty at 236-7416.

Northern Tier Vacation Bible School upcoming

CHAMPLAIN — All children ages kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to a community Vacation Bible School at Christ and St. John’s Episcopal Church on Butternut Street in Champlain from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23.

The theme is Everywhere Fun Fair Where God’s World Comes Together. The program includes interactive Bible fun, music, science, crafts, hand-on mission work, games and more. 

This is a joint program of Christ and St. John’s Episcopal, Rouses Point and Chazy Presbyterian churches, St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and Three Steeples United Methodist Church.
