Substitutes needed for golf league
PLATTSBURGH -- The Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County's golf league is underway at the Barracks golf course in Plattsburgh and is assembling a substitute list. Anyone interested in subbing should call the Senior Center at 563-6180. Names and phone numbers will be posted, so that league players can contact a sub when needed. Fee is $21 to play with a cart. Subs are not eligible for prizes.

PLATTSBURGH -- The Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County and the YMCA will celebrate the 15th-annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day on from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, with numerous activities, giveaways and booths offering resources. Here's the schedule: 9:30 to 10 a.m., exercise to music or yoga; 10 a.m. to noon, blood-pressure screenings; 10:30 to 11 a.m., shuffleboard (table or floor); 11 to 11:30 a.m., aquatic exercise or line dancing; noon to 12:30 p.m., lunch (reservations required at Senior Center -- call 561-7393); 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., quilting or crocheting and knitting; 1:30 to 2 p.m., mah-jongg, bingo, pinochle or poker; 2 to 2:30 p.m., hands-on activities by Cornell Cooperative Extension promoting healthy eating habits or nature walk. Adirondack Wellness Network Fitness Fair set
SARANAC LAKE -- Senior citizens are invited to attend the Adirondack Wellness Network's Senior Health & Fitness Fair on National Senior Health & Fitness Day. That's Wednesday, May 28, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Sparks Athletic Complex-Alumni Gymnasium at North Country Community College, Saranac Lake campus. Available will be health information, free screenings, presentations, entertainment, raffles, prescription-medication checks, balance checks, walks and more. For more information, call 523-8350.
Two trips planned for senior citizens
PLATTSBURGH -- The Senior Citizens Council has planned two trips for seniors citizens. The first is to Montreal for the film "Grand Canyon 3D: River at Risk," at the IMAX theater. The bus will leave the Senior Center at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, and will arrive back in Plattsburgh at approximately 4:30 p.m. The cost is $60 per person and includes transportation, dinner and theater tickets. Dinner will be at the Restaurant du Vieux Port. Reservations and payments must be made by Friday, June 6.
"Five Guys Named Moe," by Clarke Peters and featuring the music of Louis Jordan, will be showing at 2 p.m. July 17 at the Depot Theatre in Westport.
The bus will depart the Senior Citizens Council at 11:30 a.m. and return to Plattsburgh between 6 and 6:30 p.m. The cost per person is $55 and includes transportation, bag lunch and theatre show. Make reservations by Friday, June 20. Call 563-6180.
Session offers info about turning 65
PLATTSBURGH -- The Clinton County Office for the Aging will sponsor a community-wide informational session for anyone who is 65 or about to turn 65 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Pine Harbour Assisted Living.
