A pet and owner look-alike contest will also be held. Participants can cheer for the best animal trick of the day, and pets can enjoy a homemade dog biscuit. Adoptable dogs will also be attending.

Support group for nursing moms meets May 6
PLATTSBURGH — La Leche League, a breast-feeding information and support group, meets at 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Family Connections on U.S. Oval.
The group, which is for all women, meets the first Monday of every month. Babies are also welcome.
An additional support group will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, at Family Connections on U.S. Oval. This group will meet the third Friday of every month.

Child-bonding seminar set for May 11
PLATTSBURGH — “Bonding From the Beginning” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Emmaus Room, St. Peter’s Church, 114 Cornelia St.
The event will begin with a seminar called “Planting Seeds of Attachment” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. According to a press release, it will focus on “how we support our youngest children’s social and emotional health.” It will explore ways to support the breastfeeding mother during transitions back to work.
Lunch is provided from 11:30 a.m. to noon, followed by “Growing the Roots of Resilience” by Rachel Sperry, from noon to 3 p.m. This seminar will look how resiliency is promoted in young children.
The event is sponsored by the Champlain Valley AEYC; Chapel Hill Foundation; Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country; and the Ready, Set, Grow! Coalition.
