▶ The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce has regrettably announced that without help from the Ticonderoga community, this years two-day Fourth of July celebration simply won't happen. In order for things to go on as they have in years past, more than $6,000 has to be raised — and someone has to take charge.

▶ The city of Plattsburgh is getting ready to repair the bridge on Bridge Street using the reserved $50,000 that was originally going to be put toward building the South Catherine Street bridge. ▶ The Plattsburgh High School auditorium will be the scene of the Plattsburgh Little Theatre Group's first ever children's production, "Beauty and the Beast." The play will go on for two days only.

▶ Clinton County's 27 towns are taking part in a week long drive for The American Cancer Society, which kicked off with the Mothers March — where mothers across the county go door to door collecting donations. The march raised $2,600 — a good drop in the $10,500 goal for the end of the week.

75 YEARS AGO — 1937
