Collin McCullough of Plattsburgh recently completed an 86-day wilderness expedition in the Rocky Mountains with the National Outdoor Leadership School. During the course, he moved from Yellowstone National Park to southern Utah and to the Black Hills of South Dakota. The winter part of the course began with carrying supplies on backs or sleds to venture into Yellowstone. The course included an avalanche education class, avalanche rescue, and experiencing two feet of snow in the park, with temperatures from 15 degrees below zero to 40 degrees above zero. They also spent 19 days in the Grand Gulch area of Utah, hard desert ground with a gained elevation of 12,340 feet. This part of the course focused on technical desert travel, identifying and managing canyon hazards, locating water in the desert and preparing students for travel without instructors. The class also included rappelling, river travel and climbing. McCullough graduated a competent and confident wilderness traveler and leader.

Emily McCall, daughter of Cheryl and Patrick McCall, has been named to the Dean’s List at Ithaca College, School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. A graduate of Peru Central School, she earned a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester.

Elizabeth Christon of Cadyville was among 499 students from Genesee Community College named to the President’s List for the spring semester. Students named to the President’s List have maintained full-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.75 or better.
Jordan Haulton of Plattsburgh and Alyssa Ann Menard of Rouses Point have earned placement on the Dean’s List at SUNY Fredonia.
Berklee College of Music in Boston has named Joseph Izzo of Lake Placid to the Dean’s List. The Berklee curriculum focuses on practical career preparation for today’s music industry and offers four-year degrees in a variety of musical options, including performance, jazz composition, music production and engineering, film scoring and music therapy.
Jackson Rockefeller of Saranac Lake, a member of the Class of 2015 at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester.
Kathryn Major of Ticonderoga has been awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, Ohio.
Plymouth State University in New Hampshire has named Ava Tyler of Saranac Lake to the President’s List for the spring semester. A student must achieve a GPA of 3.7 or higher and maintain 12 credit hours for placement on the President’s List.

Krissy Tremblay and Kacie Rider have been named recipients of the Adirondack Dental Hygiene Scholarship. Tremblay is a graduate of Salmon River Central School and North Country Community College. She will be attending Vermont Technical Institute this fall. Rider is a graduate of Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School and will attend the University of New England. The scholarships are awarded to an enrolling freshman in a dental-hygiene program who is from Clinton, Essex or Franklin counties.

Delaney Sears of Westport has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven in West Haven, Conn. Full-time students must have a 3.50 or better GPA for the semester to be eligible for Dean’s List placement.

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Danielle Schwartz of West Chazy. She is the daughter of association member Stephen Schwartz and plans to attend St. Lawrence University in Canton this fall to study biology and pre-med.
Two local students have been awarded undergraduate degrees at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia. They are Patti J. Collins-Fredette of Plattsburgh, Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, human services; and Debra J. Hurley of West Chazy, Bachelor of Science degree in human services.
Megan L. Rivers, daughter of Steven and Cheryl Rivers of Plattsburgh, graduated from SUNY Cortland, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She has also been placed on the Dean’s List at Cortland.

Colette Elizabeth Lou Hyatt received a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Arcadia University in Philadelphia. She graduated from Moriah Central School and from Union Graduate College, Albany, with a master’s degree in bioethics. She has accepted a position as a genetic counselor at the cancer center through Crozer Keystone Health Systems, Philadelphia.
Madeline Seller of Cadyville was named to the Dean’s List at SUNY Buffalo. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.
