Two New York Army National Guard Soldiers received new rank responsibilities. Daniel Davis and Jesse Montanye have been promoted as a result of the recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. Davis, from Lyon Mountain, is serving with the 1427th Transportation Company and has been moved up to the rank of private first class. Montanye, from Newcomb, is serving with the Company D, 3-126th Aviation and has been elevated to the rank of specialist.
David Davenport from Moira, serving with the National Guard Company B, 2-108th Infantry, has been promoted to the rank of private.
Sgt. 1st. Class Matthew Golovachfrom Cadyville has re-enlisted to continue service with National Guard Company B, 2-108th Infantry.
Two local men have completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.: Navy Seaman Apprentice Matthew S. Roberts, son of Stanley L. Roberts and Linda L. Padilla of Chazy, and Navy Seaman Ryan J. Culley, son of Frederick S. Culley of Plattsburgh. During the eight-week program, they completed classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, shipboard and aircraft safety and other subjects. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. Roberts is a 2009 graduate of Beekmantown Central School. Culley is a 2012 graduate of Plattsburgh High School.
