Daniel James Puchalski of Plattsburgh has been placed on the Dean’s List at SUNY Cortland. He is a sociology/criminal-justice major.

Three area students have been recognized for academic excellence at McDaniel College, Westminster, Md. They are Heidi Defendorf of Keene, honors; Emma West of Bloomingdale, highest honors; and Jesica West of Bloomingdale, high honors.

Nathan Trachte of Lake Placid has been named to Fort Lewis College’s Dean’s List in Durango, Colo. His major is biology-environmental and organism biology option.

Jonathan LaDieu, son of Jeff and Lynn LaDieu of AuSable Forks, has been named to the Dean’s List at SUNY Cortland. He is a 2013 graduate of AuSable Valley Central School, Clintonville.

Kaitlyn L. Jubert of Mooers completed graduate studies at SUNY Oswego in adolescence education in December with a master’s degree in teaching.

Three area students completed their baccalaureate studies at SUNY Oswego: Timothy G. Reid of Lake Placid, finance; Nathaniel M. Horn of Peru, technology education; and Christine M. Peets of St. Regis Falls, journalism.

The following local students have been named Presidential Scholars for the fall semester at Clarkson University: Nicklas Liam Makowski of Keeseville, freshman, aeronautical engineering; Derek J. Dustin of Fort Covington, senior, biology; Megan M. Borland of Lake Placid, sophomore, biomolecular science; Dana Violet Chapman, Plattsburgh, freshman, civil engineering; Raymond L. Phillips of Hogansburg, senior, electrical engineering; Brian M. Ashline of Burke, senior, global supply chain management; Jessica D. Burl of Burke, senior, mathematics; Cody J. Bushey of West Chazy, junior, mechanical engineering; and Marissa C. Cook of Chateaugay, senior, pre-physical therapy and psychology.

Laura Merrill of Plattsburgh, a junior majoring in chemical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall semester.

Samantha Crosby of Peru has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at Clarkson University where she is a freshman. Crosby was accepted into the Clarkson School Early College Program, leaving Peru High School a year early and is currently pursuing a bachelor of science degree, double major in biomolecular science and chemistry with a pre-med concentration. She plans to be a biomedical researcher focusing on oncology.
