Local history buff Morgan Judkins has been awarded a Knapp North Country Scholarship. She learned of the award during her graduation from Northeastern Clinton Central School and chose SUNY Plattsburgh to keep her further education close to home. North Country scholarships are funded by gifts from local businesses and individuals and support local students. Judkins’s scholarship was funded by the Champlain Telephone Co. Judkins has been volunteering at the Kent-Delord House Museum for six years.
Lucas Wood of Plattsburgh has been named a member of SUNY Delhi’s Professional Golf Management Club for the 2013-14 Academic Year. Wood is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in professional golf management.
John Duquette of Cadyville has received an Excellence in Education Scholarship to attend Alfred State. He intends to enroll in the engineering science program after graduation from Saranac Central Senior High School in 2014.
Lynn-Marie Veverka, a graduate of Schroon Lake High School and fine-arts major at Alfred University, was awarded the Junior Function Design Award, which is presented for excellent of conception and execution in ceramics or three-dimensional arts. Veverka’s course of study has a concentration in glass and water-based media, and she hopes to eventually work at the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
