Tiffany Hyacinthe, daughter of Jean-Pierre and Marie-Helene Hyacinthe of Plattsburgh, has been named to the Dean's List at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine, and was honored as a Presidential Scholar. The Plattsburgh High School graduate has been accepted in Pi Mu Epsilon, the mathematics honor society.
Rebecca J. LaPier of West Chazy has been inducted into the Irving Bacheller Society, the English Department honorary society at St. Lawrence University in Canton. She is a graduate of Beekmantown High School.
Erin Rasco, a 2006 Saranac High School graduate and a junior at St. Lawrence University, has been selected from a pool of more than 200 applicants to participate in the UConn Physiology and Neurobiology Research Experience Fellowship for Undergraduates. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rasco of Cadyville.
William MacIver of Westport spent the spring break from St. Lawrence University volunteering with a community-based education program in New Orleans, La., as part of a seminar in the university's first-year program. He is a graduate of Westport Central School.
Nicholas R. Blaise of Champlain and Kevin C. O'Connor of Rouses Point spent their spring break with Habitat for Humanity's Spring Break Challenge. They participated in building a house with the Eastern Shore of Virginia Habitat for Humanity chapter in Treherneville.
Two North Country Community College students, Kirsten Jubin and Andrea Hudak, have been selected as recipients of the State University of New York's Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.
Jubin, a resident of Lake Placid, is completing her Associates in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology. She was elected Student Trustee on North Country's Board of Trustees, treasurer of the Rad Tech Honor Society and member of the Campus Master Planning Process Committee. She volunteers as a peer tutor and has been formally recognized for outstanding excellence by the college and is also a gold and silver medal Master's Women Luge champion.
Hudak, also of Lake Placid, completed her Associates in Science, Sports and Events Management degree. Originally from Slovakia, she competed internationally as a speed skater. While working full-time, she accomplished her studies, receiving high academic honors. Hudak helped others through mentoring youth and tutoring other North Country students.
