MALONE -- Bridge-renovation projects were awarded to the same construction firm by Franklin County legislators this week.
J.T. Erectors LLC of Malone was the low bidder on three separate jobs around the county that will fix sediment problems on two spans and replace and repair culverts on others.
The cumulative winning bids are not to exceed $576,850.
The first is on County Road 25 in the Town of Malone known as Duane Road, where a culvert over a small brook will be repaired.
The next is over Briggs Creek on County Road 20, known as the Trout River-Westville Road in the towns of Constable and Westville, where the culvert will be replaced.
The final two are on County Road 26, known as Port Kent or Loon Lake Road over the north branch of the Saranac River and on Howe Road in the towns of Duane and Malone.
Those repairs include the removal of scour, or sediment, that has built up on the abutments or piers of the bridges.
County Highway Department officials said the work is expected to start in about six weeks and be completed by the end of the 2008 construction season.
In other business before the board, members:
Appointed Ronald Phelix of North Bangor to a three-year term of the Franklin County Traffic Safety Board from March 20, 2008, to March 19, 2011.
Appointed Stephen Shafer to a two-year term on the Northern Regional Workforce Investment Board and the Franklin County Workforce Council to expire Dec. 31, 2010.
Set public-hearing dates for Thursday, April 3, at 11 a.m. and Thursday, April 17, at 11 a.m. to hear comments about an application for a Small Cities Community Development Block Grant.
