Fort Ti opens for season Friday

TICONDEROGA — Fort Ticonderoga opens for the season Friday and will offer new programs, living-history weekends, events, exhibits, gardens and more.

Fort Ticonderoga is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 20. General admission costs $17.50 for adults, $14 for those 62 and over, and $8 for children 5 through 12. Children 4 and under are admitted free of charge. Friends of Fort Ticonderoga and Ticonderoga Resident Ambassador Pass holders are also admitted free.

Underground Railroadminibus tour offered Saturday

AUSABLE CHASM — The North Star Underground Railroad Museum is offering a minibus tour of Underground Railroad sites in Keeseville and Peru at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Attendees will learn about the men and women who traveled on the Underground Railroad and those who provided safe passage to fugitives from slavery. There will be several stops, including one at the hidden room in a barn at the former Stephen Keese Smith farm in Peru. Tour leaders are members of the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association.

The bus boards at 9:30 a.m. at the North Star Museum, 1131 Mace Chasm Road.

The cost is $10 per person. Reservations are required by calling 834-5180.

Bluegrass and Old TimeMusic group to meet

TICONDEROGA — The Champlain Valley Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Ticonderoga American Legion, 104 Montcalm St.

Everyone is invited. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish for the buffet.
