---- — PLATTSBURGH — Close the gap on holiday-gift giving at the fifth-annual Artists Supporting ARC Art Show & Wine Tasting today at West Side Ballroom.

From 5 to 8 p.m., attendees will have a chance to view stained glass, wood bowls, paintings, graphic design, pottery, jewelry and wood burnings.

“It’s really a huge variety,” said Beth Davis, public-relations coordinator.

The event is presented by the Advocacy and Resource Center Foundation and CFA Insurance Agency.

“Local artists bring in their artwork, and they donate 20 percent to the ARC Foundation,” Davis said.

Featured artists are Josh Besaw, Kathy Betts, William Betts, Connie Cassevaugh, Ruth Couchey, Bill Crosby, Clark Davidson, Suzanne Dion, Jim Dugan, Ken Gadway, Judy Guglielmo, Lorna Hohn, Christina Kester-Tallman, Mike McGrath, Tim Palkovic, KC Reiter, Bucky Seiden, Dick Soper and Eric Wilson.

“There is very unique artwork to decorate your office,” Davis said. “We have a gentleman who does iron wine racks. It’s just beautiful stuff. We have prices ranging from $10 to $2,000.”

The show also features a tribute to the late Sid Couchey, an Essex resident and iconic cartoonist. He was the creator of Harvey Comics’ Richie Rich, Little Dot and Little Lotta.

“She (Ruth Couchey) will be selling some of his prints,” Davis said. “We are going to do a display of his work. He always participated.”

Proceeds from the show assist individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in Clinton County.

“They help anyone with disabilities in any way they need help, and it’s always different,” Davis said.

“We have already sold many tickets in advance, and tickets are available at the door.”
