Museum Day Live! set for Saturday
PLATTSBURGH — Two North Country museums are participating in Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Live! event on Saturday, Sept. 29. Visitors to the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake and the Adirondack History Center Museum in Elizabethtown can dowload tickets for two on the Smithsonian website at Smithsonian.com/museumdaylive. NCCCA announces fall classes PLATTSBURGH — Fall courses offered at the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts will begin on Saturday, Sept. 29. The arts center provides high-quality arts education in the visual, performing and literary arts. Students have the opportunity to participate in one-time workshops, ongoing classes or private instruction. In the Clay Studio, courses include “Kid’s Clay,” a series of exploratory classes for youth ages 4 to 14, and “Mud and Merlot,” a clay class just for adults. On Saturdays, youth are invited to an “ArtQuest” program, based this fall around the study of sculpture. New offerings this season include a workshop to prepare for the National Novel Writing Month in November and a “Creative Movement and Improvisation” class. These courses are in addition to the regularly scheduled “Theater for Youth” programming, which also starts Saturday. NCCCA bike ride coming up PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts’ Adirondack Harvest “Vineyard to Orchard” bike ride is slated for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Beginning and ending at the Crete Center, 4 Beach Drive, the 23-mile scenic bike ride (not race) includes three stops along the way. No leg of the ride is longer than seven miles along flat terrain. The ride is for any and all adults with a bike. The registration fee is $50 and includes admission to the Adirondack Coast Wine, Cider and Food Festival.
