Franklin County Fair plans for big grandstand crowds

In addition to grandstand events, the fair will offer rides, games, plenty of food and a variety of animal judging competition. In fact, the Franklin County Fair has about 600 cattle in the barns every year, along with horses, goats, chickens and many other animals.

“We attract over 70,000 people (each year). We have great entertainment at a cheap price (and) we have a little bit of something for everyone,” she said. 

Here is the complete list of the days and times that each grandstand event will take place:

Saturday, Aug. 3: The elimination round of the demolition derby, which will be put on by Total Destruction Demo Productions for the second straight year, kicks off at 5 p.m. 

Fair admission is $10 and includes a grandstand-bleacher seat.

Sunday, Aug. 4: The Adirondack Tractor Pullers tractor and modified-truck pull will begin at 2 p.m.

Fair admission is $10 and includes a grandstand-bleacher seat.

Monday, Aug. 5: The championship round of the demolition derby starts at 6 p.m.

Fair admission is $10 and includes a grandstand-bleacher seat.

Tuesday, Aug. 6: The Antique-tractor, enhanced tractor and street-legal truck pull will start things off at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 7: Horse harness races begin at 1 p.m. and then the Tony Peterson Hell Drivers daredevil show will take over and wow the crowd with spectacular stunts at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 8: Horse harness races begin at 1 p.m. Later in the day, come join everyone to watch the hometown parade at 6 p.m. and then the Franklin County Has Talent Show at 7 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 9: Horse harness races begin at 1 p.m. Then, country music superstar Vince Gill will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Gill, who has been a solo artist since 1983, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and is considered as one of the greatest singer/songwriters in country music history. Some of his greatest hits include “I Still Believe in You,” “Look at Us,” and “When I Call Your Name.”
