Barre, ballet classes offered for adult beginners

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts is offering three adult beginner dance classes taught by Danielle Erb.

Classes, which started recently, include “Floor Barre/Stretch & Strengthen,” “Beginning Barre” and “Beginning Ballet.”

“Floor Barre/Stretch & Strengthen” concentrates on proper body alignment and muscle strength. Students focus on stretches and exercises, using the floor as a reference. Classes are from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Mondays and cost $7 each or $50 for 10 classes.

In “Beginning Barre,” Erb helps students learn or revisit the basics of ballet through practice exercises and stretches performed at the barre. Participants will work on proper alignment, balance and technique. Classes are from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays. The cost is $12 per class or $100 for 10 classes.

“Beginning Ballet” teaches basic ballet vocabulary and techniques, such as barre work, center work, traveling steps and combination work. The class is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and costs $12 per class or $100 for 10 classes.
