WIRY recognized for public service

PLATTSBURGH — Hometown Radio WIRY was recently recognized during the second-annual regional New York State Broadcasters Association’s Serving New York awards luncheon at the Sagamore Hotel in Bolton Landing.

The award honors local radio stations for their daily public-service efforts. One such effort is WIRY’s annual Walk of Hope and Spring Festival, which brings the North Country together to raise money to fund research for a cure for ALS, Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. The organization has raised nearly $200,000 in the two years of its existence.
