Adirondack Singers rehearsing Tuesdays

SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Singers are rehearsing for this year’s annual spring concert from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesday evenings at Adirondack Alliance Church in Saranac Lake.

Rehearsals will come to a close with two performances: Saturday, May 3, in Tupper Lake and Sunday, May 4, in Saranac Lake. The program, directed by Karen Butters, will have the theme of Rock, Roll and Remember.

The singers encourage anyone who is interested in singing to come to rehearsal. No auditions are necessary but there are nominal membership dues.

BluSeed announces ‘Abstraction’ contest winners

SARANAC LAKE — Ken Wiley won Best in Show for BluSeed Studios’s second-annual juried art competition “Abstraction” for his oil painting “Homage to Rinehardt and Kline.”

First Place went to Jess Collins for her untitled graphite work. First Honorable Mention went to Barry Lobdell for his photo “Blue and Green.” Honorable mentions included Julia Holmes for her fusion work “3 Coins in the Bat” and Peter Shrope for his two-piece ceramic work with Adirondack Rockware original glazes “Sibling Rivalry, The Introvert and the Extrovert.”

This year a “Peoples’ Choice Award” was voted on by attendees of the opening reception. Artist Andrew Cziraki won with his acrylic on Masonite work “Transcendence of the Planes of Reality.”

“Abstraction” will run through Feb. 23. Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday or by appointment.

Adirondack Dance Company to hold ‘Little Mermaid’ auditions

PLATTSBURGH — Open auditions for Adirondack Dance Company’s Spring Production of “The Little Mermaid” will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, with parent meeting at 1 p.m. and auditions at 1:30.

The production is a classical rendition of the story based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.
