Give gift of entertainment this holiday season

MONTREAL — Need a last-minute holiday gift idea?

Here are a few live performance suggestions playing on the Montreal stage.

Cirque du Soleil's "Dralion," a mystical show where East meets West, plays the Bell Centre through Dec. 30. The space is more intimate than you may think as the venue uses a half-arena stage setup. Tickets range from $62 to $181. The official address is 1909 Avenue des Canadiens de Montreal, which is downtown near the corner of Drummond or Peel streets and Boulevard Rene Levesque.

The Les Grands Ballets Canadiens classic "The Nutcracker" is currently enjoying its holiday run through Dec. 30 at 175 St. Catherine St. W. Adult tickets range from $35 to $100.

"Disney Live! Three Classic Fairy Tales" provides fun for the entire family at Theatre St. Denis, 1594 St. Denis St., with English performances at 6 p.m. Dec. 25 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 27. Tickets range from $27.50 to $97.50.

Ring in an elegant New Year with "Salute to Vienna," an annual tradition held the afternoon of Jan. 1 at Place des Arts. Tickets range from $54 to $98.

"Mamma Mia!" the smash Broadway musical based on the music of ABBA, enjoys a New Year's run at Place des Arts Jan. 3 through 8. Tickets cost $66.50 to $96.50.

Place des Arts also presents "Shen Yun," a colorful performance of traditional Chinese dance and music, Jan. 5 through 8. Tickets range from $86 to $166.

Comedian Demetri Martin brings his "Telling Jokes in Cold Places" tour to Place des Arts Jan. 12. Tickets cost $36 and $42.

Down With Webster plays Metropolis, 59 St. Catherine St. E., Jan. 20. Tickets start at $29.

Machine Head is next to take the Metropolis stage Jan. 27. Tickets start at $25.50.

British singer-songwriter Charlie Winston plays the Corona Theatre at 2490 Notre Dame St. W. Jan. 28. Tickets cost $29.

Arkells play Petit Campus at 57 Prince Arthur St. E. Jan. 28. Tickets start at $14.

Iconic '70s rockers Chicago perform at Theatre St. Denis Feb. 1 and 5. Tickets range from $52 to $82.
