OSWEGO — The Plattsburgh State women’s tennis team (7-3) won its second match in as many days with a 9-0 sweep at Oswego State Saturday afternoon.
Perfect outings at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles helped the Cardinals top the Lakers. The pair of Jessica Paquette and Samantha Engebrecht improves to 7-2 on the year at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 win over Nicole Leader and Kelsey Wilson. Plattsburgh also picked up a pair of 8-1 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to set the tone for the afternoon.
Rachel Hodnett topped Leader at first singles with a score of 6-0, 6-1. With the win, Hodnett breaks even with a 5-5 record from the first singles spot.
Engebrecht cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Oswego’s Lauren Stall in second singles. Paquette, Stephanie Omlin and Emily Carlin also dominated their matches to pick up three additional wins in singles action for the Cardinals.
Jackie Bogdon battled Haley Miller at No. 4 singles, taking the match to a tiebreaker. Bogdon won the first set, 6-1, before Miller rebounded with a 6-3 win in the second set. Bogdon took the tiebreaker, 10-7, to secure the Plattsburgh sweep.
The Cardinals wrap up the regular season tomorrow afternoon with their final home match against St. Lawrence University. Sunday’s match is set for 1 p.m. at the Memorial Hall Tennis Courts.

Senior Jessica Paquette and sophomore Samantha Engebrecht defeated Johnson State’s Deanna Brandstetter and Annette Kaminski in No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-1, improving the pair’s doubles record to 6-2 on the year.
Plattsburgh’s Rachel Hodnett and Caitlin Belladone earned an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles while Tedi Politano and Meghan Ryan completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory in their first appearance for the Cardinals as a pair.
