Instead of keeping their momentum rolling, the Cardinals quickly relinquished it to the Bengals who began the second set on a 10-4 spurt. Plattsburgh State never led in the set, but knotted matters at 11 with a 6-0 run that was capped off by a service ace from Cummings.
Laura Diehl was able to tie things at 15 with one of her eight terminations, but the Bengals responded with a 6-2 stretch which proved to be too much for the Cardinals to overcome.
With their offense motoring along at a good clip, the Bengals employed a 9-2 run during the onset of the third frame to deflate the Cardinals even further. A Buffalo State attack error allowed the Cardinals to close to within five points (12-7), but a 5-0 surge by the Bengals put things out of reach.
