CORTLAND — Three members of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Hockey All-Conference Team in an announcement Tuesday morning. Alex Jensen and Barry Roytman were selected to the All-SUNYAC First Team while Mathieu Cadieux represented the Cardinals on the Second Team.
Jensen receives his first All-SUNYAC nod after a breakout year as the Cardinals’ leading scorer. A junior forward from Helsingborg, Sweden tallied career-highs with 13 goals and 16 assists to lead the Plattsburgh State offense with 29 points. He finished the season with three power-play goals, three game-winning goals and a short-handed marker. Jensen scored more points (20) in league play than any other conference player and ranked third in the SUNYAC with an average of 1.21 points per game.
Roytman also earns the first All-SUNYAC selection of his career with a spot on the First Team in his final season with the Cardinals. The Staten Island native helped anchor a Plattsburgh State defense that ranked first in the league and sixth in the nation, holding opponents to 1.92 goals per game. Roytman also led all Cardinal defensemen with 14 points and contributed a team-high four power-play goals.
Cadieux garners all-conference honors for the third-straight season after posting an 18-5-2 record between the Plattsburgh State pipes. The senior goaltender out of Oshawa, Ontario ranks sixth in Division III with a 1.65 goals-against average and eighth in the nation with a .935 save percentage. Cadieux wraps up his three-year career with a 49-17-6 mark and is the Cardinals’ all-time leader with a 1.76 career goals-against average.
