ITHACA — The 4x800-meter relay team of Christen Averill, Katie Ehmann, Rebecca Muschio and Megan Schweizer became the latest members of the Plattsburgh State women’s indoor track and field team to post an ECAC qualifying time when they ran to a fourth-place finish (10:06.37) in the event at the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday afternoon.
The time put forth by the quartet was the only ECAC qualifying mark of the day for the Cardinals. In the mile run, senior Kelley Driscoll finished in 10th place by recording a time of 5:20.48.
Freshman Taylor Baynham produced another top-10 finish for the Cardinals by finishing the 300-meter dash in a time of 45.25 seconds.
Senior Jasmine Boncore took to the lanes in the 800-meter run and turned in a 13th-place finish in a time of 2:24.77.
In the shortest of the sprint races, Lauren Carlino set a personal best in the 60-meter dash by being clocked in a time of 8.43 seconds.
Next Saturday, the Cardinals will converge on the Special Events Recreation Center at The College at Brockport to take part in the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The conference meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
ALLEN QUALIFIES FOR ECAC MEET
ITHACA — Sophomore Seth Allen became the second member of the Plattsburgh State men’s indoor track and field team to qualify for the ECAC meet after he turned in an eighth-place finish in the 500-meter run at the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday afternoon.
The Burlington, Vt., product was clocked in a time of 1:08.81 and was one of four Plattsburgh State student-athletes who captured top-10 finishes during the meet.
Freshman Ethan Vinson earned a fourth-place finish in the mile run by conjuring up a personal-best time of 4:25.39.
