25 YEARS AGO (1987)

Sherry Dobbs and Travis Angevine each intercept 2 passes and Chris Anderson runs for 118 yards and one touchdown as Peru knocks off previously unbeaten Ticonderoga 14-0.

Jeff Jiampetti runs for 244 yards and 3 TDs in St. John’s 41-20 victory over Saranac.

Tammy Rule, Kelly Gillen, Erin Kahn, Kristy Allen and Heather Morrison lead AuSable Valley as the Patriots hand the St. John’s Irish their first loss in 3 years in girls’ cross country.

Pete Mazzotte rushes for 116 yards and 2 TDs to spur unbeaten Moriah to a 28-0 win over MAI.

Bob Egglefield scores twice and sets up Joe Pierce for a goal as unbeaten Elizabethtown-Lewis, down 4-1 in the fourth, rallies to tie Crown Point 4-4.

40 YEARS AGO (1972)

Dean Garrison, Bill Callahan and John Miron score touchdowns to lead Moriah past Beekmantown 19-0.

Jose Guadelupe runs for 2 scores as Plattsburgh State dumps Brockport 15-0 for its first win in as a varsity football team.

Dewey Reil grabs a slippery football on a fumble recovery and races 85 yards to score in the fourth quarter, giving PHS an 8-6 win over Saranac.

Plattsburgh State announces it will begin hockey on a club basis with John Corker to coach the team, which will play 16 games in the 1972-73 season.

50 YEARS AGO (1962)

Quarterback Dave LaMora, returning from an injury, leads PHS to a 22-0 victory over MAI. Jim Baker, Mike Jabaut and Gary Duquette score touchdowns with Baker adding a field goal.

Larry Bradford scores twice and Milton Duntley, once, in Elizabethtown’s 6-0 triumph over Willsboro.

Ralph Hall’s goal gives Ellenburg a 2-0 win over Mooers while John Duve scores a goal and Jerry Butler adds a penalty kick in Chazy’s 3-0 win over Lyon Mountain.

Bob Mitchell scores on runs of 86 and 34 yards while Bill Duquette adds 2 TDs in Moriah’s 38-7 win over Ticonderoga.

Leon Angevine runs for 151 yards and a 75-yard touchdown and Al Russell rushes for 110 and a 64-yard score as Peru defeats St. John’s 14-0 in a battle of unbeatens.

60 YEARS AGO (1952)

Don Gambrell scores twice and Hal Grant hits Larry Phinney with a 7-yard TD pass as Port Henry upsets Plattsburgh High 21-0.

Clarence Benjamin and Al Pageau hold Saranac Lake in check as the Lyon Mountain Miners, down one game, rallies to win 2-0 and 5-2, taking the best-of-three Champlain Valley Baseball League championship series. Roger Tolosky is the hitting star.

Ray Edgley scores 3 touchdowns and Bill Sears, one, as unbeaten Lake Placid turns back MAI 25-20. Norm Zile scores twice for the Muzzlers, who lose lineman Pete Downing to a broken leg on the first play of the game.

Dave Ross scores on a 21-yard reverse to lift St. John’s to a 7-0 victory over Mineville.

70 YEARS AGO (1942)

Ross Spinks plunges over from the one and LaBarge returns an interception 40 yards to score as MAI upsets St. John’s 14-0. George O’Connell kicks both extra points.
