Peru, trailing by 22 with 3:57 left, pulls off an incredible comeback to defeat Lansingburgh 43-42 in a state Class B football quarterfinal. Matt McCormick passes for 240 yards and 4 touchdowns and also runs for 91 yards.
Kyle Stark and Mark Rabideau score goals as Seton Catholic shocks previously unbeaten Maple Hill 2-1 in the state Class C boys’ soccer playoffs. The Knights fall to Manlius-Pebble Hill 1-0 in the semifinals.
Chazy is dealt a double setback in the state Class D soccer semifinals. S.S. Seward, coached by former Eagles’ standout Rob Gravelle, tops the Chazy girls 4-3 while Edmeston beats the Chazy boys 1-0 in double overtime.
Lisa Reyell (14) and Cathleen Byno (15) lead Saranac Lake to a second-place finish in girls’ Class C at the state cross-country meet. Saranac’s Emily Medeiros (13) is the top Section VII finisher on the day.
Hannah Robinson, Kailey Ryan and Katie Molzan lead Peru to the Section VII girls’ swimming championship.
Former Seton Catholic standout Ryan DeCamp kicks 3 field goals, including one with time expired, to lift SUNY Cortland to a 16-15 victory over arch-rival Ithaca College.

Carrie Layhee, Ann Parks, Audrey Cano and Nicole Miller score in a shootout, lifting Saranac to a 1-0 victory over Canton in the girls’ Class C soccer regional. Amy Flick and Jessie Strack star in goal.
Jason Bushey scores from Steve Chilton, after a long throw-in by John Soden, to give Northern Adirondack a 1-0 victory over Norwood-Norfolk in boys’ Class B soccer. Keeper Chris Forkey, Anthony Seiferheld and Dave Bushey are the defensive stars for NAC.
Sarah Sabourin and Anna Patnode lead Peru to the Section VII swim title. Erica Lindsay and Katie Donelli are triple winners for runner-up PHS.
Sam Godfrey runs for 133 yards and a touchdown, but Glens Falls comes away with a 21-7 victory over Peru in regional football.
