10 YEARS AGO (2004)

Shae Gilmore and Christa Shippee of Northern Adirondack join Plattsburgh High's Elizabeth Tregan on the All-State team in girls' volleyball.

Matt McCormick strikes out 14 and allows only 4 hits in pitching Peru to a 1-0 win over NAC. Jeremy Scott is a hard-luck losing pitcher, giving up just 4 hits while whiffing 8. Matt Hart's RBI double in the fourth scores B.J. Godfrey, who had singled, with the lone run.

Heather Bessette claims 4 firsts; however, it isn't enough to prevent the Malone girls from suffering their first dual-meet setback in track & field in 4 years. Massena ends the streak with a 164-154 win.

Hogan Birney shoots a 36 to lead Lake Placid to a 5-1 victory over previously unbeaten Seton Catholic in CVAC golf.

Winning pitcher Holly O'Neill triples and scores 4 runs in Westport's 19-9 thumping of Schroon Lake.

Plattsburgh High's Shane Raymo wins every point at No. 1 singles to lead the Hornets to a 5-0 victory over AuSable Valley in CVAC boys' tennis.

20 YEARS AGO (1994)

Matt Sames pitches a 3-hit shutout in Plattsburgh’s season-opening sweep of Peru while Brad Bouchard tosses a one-hitter as the Clinton Lakers take two from Altona in CVBL play.

Seton Catholic’s Patrick Larkin (9:48) and Jeremy Stone (9:53) finish 1-2 in the 3,200-meter run at the Johnstown Invitational.

Jason Goodrow wins the 800 (1:59) and 400 (52.2) while Chad Lane takes the pole vault (13-6) and shot put (48-2) to lead Malone to the title in its own invitational.

Steve Davies beats Bob Hughes on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff in the Masters North.

Roger Seymour collects 3 hits and Shane Buffett, 2, as Beekmantown beats Northern Adirondack, 8-4, for Coach Gary Butler’s 250th career win.

25 YEARS AGO (1989)

Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus visits Lake Placid to go over plans for a 36-hole course proposed by Gleneagles Hotels, which is renovating the former Lake Placid Club.
